The Violent Crimes Reduction Act in the UK specifically states "that to buy a Replica Imitation Firearm the Recipient must be Over 18, and have a valid Reason / Defence for doing so, unless the weapon is over 51% a bright non-military colour such as: Blue, Red, or Green."
More than 51% of the gun therefore has to be brighly colored.
If your budget is very limited and you are looking for an extremely cheap Airsoft gun (£20 or less), then your best option a spring operated airsoft gun. It is a good idea to buy a smaller Airsoft spring-powered gun if shopping in this price range, as the larger guns tend to be made from lower quality materials.
If, however, you are willing to spend just a bit more money, you could quite easily afford one of the cheap Airsoft gas-powered guns.
Gas-powered airsoft guns have two key advantages: firstly, they are semi automatic. That means they don't need to be cocked before every shot.
