Umarex HK53 Series Gas Blowback Rifle (by VFC - Black)

Want to buy a realistic-looking black airsoft gun (RIF) from onlyBBguns? Because these guns look so real, UK law (the VCRA Act) requires you to have a valid reason, called a "defence," to own one. Essentially, you need to prove you're buying it for airsoft skirmishing (the sport itself), not for any other purpose.

Here's how you can demonstrate your defence to onlyBBguns and buy a black airsoft gun:

  1. Show proof of skirmishing: Gather evidence like photos and videos from airsoft games you've participated in. These should clearly show you actively involved in skirmishing, demonstrating your intent to use the gun for the sport.
  2. Become a registered skirmisher: The easiest way to prove your defence is by joining a recognized airsoft association and getting a membership card. The most common one in the UK is UKARA. This registration confirms you're a legitimate airsoft player.

Don't have either of those? No problem! You can still buy the airsoft gun. onlyBBguns can paint it in a two-tone colour scheme. This means part of the gun will be sprayed a bright, non-realistic colour. This makes the gun a "non-realistic imitation firearm" and avoids the restrictions of the VCRA Act. Anyone over 18 can legally buy a two-tone airsoft gun

Features

Now for something a little bit different. An almost MP5 sized and looking compact assault rifle. This is based on the HK53 carbine which is a derivative of the HK33 rifle which is essentially a 5.56 chambered G3 variant. The HK53 though lesser seen than some of the others mentioned has seen special forces and law enforcement use around the world, including none other than the British SAS. This is the first gas blowback replica we’ve seen in the airsoft world and VFC like with the rest of their GBB range, have truest smashed this one out of the park. To put it plain and simple, it looks and feels exactly like a real one. The stamped steel receiver and realistic markings and weld marks are incredibly pleasing to the eye. The plastic is a heavy nylon fibre reinforced polymer that you would expect to find on the real one, and the finish is that thick black matt but ever so slightly glossed finish that you see on all of these older pattern Heckler and Koch Cold War era rifles and smgs. The operation, manual of arms, and manipulating the fire selector controls and ”Koching” that charging handle is extremely satisfying. We all love the classic MP5, wielded by every action hero and villain of the 70s - 90s, but the HK53 offers something a little bit extra. Now usually with airsoft guns, the calibre of the real world counterpart has no real relevance other than looks and maybe ammo capacity. On Gas guns however, bigger calibre equals bigger magazines that means more gas capacity! As well as a larger surface area to spread out the effects of and minimise the effects of cool down. This is a must have for collectors or anyone doing an SAS loadout.

Two tone
We can two tone any weapon we sell at Bespoke Airsoft. The purpose for two toning is if you do not hold a valid defense under the Violent Crimes Reduction Act (VCRA, 2006) which is to prevent the misuse of Replica Weapons, which applies in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The gun will be sprayed 51% in a bright/primary color (we do only blue, green and red currently). The process of two toning currently runs at 2 working days depending on Drying Time, which is effected by Ambient Temperature and Weather. and currently no express delivery is available for this even if you select it at checkout.

FAQs

1.     What is a BB gun used for?  BB guns are mostly used for practice shooting and training. The stronger ones (i.e. Air Rifles) can also control pests or hunt small animals.

2.     Do you need a Licence in the UK for a BB gun? No, you don't need a licence for a BB gun in the UK, but there are rules. The BB Gun needs to be in two colours; one has to be a primary. All our guns are on the website as per default.

3.     Is a BB gun a good weapon?   BB guns, despite sometimes being seen as toys, can be dangerous. They fire pellets at high speeds and can cause serious harm, or even be deadly in some situations.

4.     Can you shoot BB guns in public in the UK without a Firearm license? BB guns in the UK navigate a legal grey area. While certain models, notably low-power 'soft air' types, typically evade classification as section 1 firearms, more potent versions may require a valid firearms certificate to avoid legal repercussions.

5.     Can you shoot a BB gun in your garden? You can use a BB gun in your garden under UK law, but you have to ensure the pellets don't go into your neighbour's yard, plot or land. If they do and you don't have permission, it's against the law.

6.     Which UK law am I breaking if the pellets go into my neighbour's law without permission?  If your BB gun pellets go into your neighbour's yard without permission, you're breaking UK laws. Specifically, the 1968 Firearms Act and possibly the 2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act, because you may be causing your neighbours trouble or worry.
